Booked!
How good it is to book the first trip of the year.. ๐ The plan to go to the US is not a new one, but last year we opted for Italy instead. Also fun, but I am looking forward to our trip to the US. We didn’t book all that much; yes, obviously we booked the tickets (there was a special discount thing going on with the KLM so booked during the right time) and the first few nights in New York. Other than that it is arranging a rental car and we will see where we end up.
2006
It’s been 2006 since I was last in New York during a speedy break. We had to go to Portland for work (I worked for Nike at the time) and a few colleagues and I decided to add a few days in New York afterwards. I immediately fell in love with the city. I assume that a lot has changed since than. Twelve years is a substantial time. When we were there 9/11 wasn’t that long ago and Ground Zero was nothing more than a giant building site. I understood (and I have seen in photos and film) that it is now finished. But there is qite a list of things we have to do once in New York. But more tips are always welcome!
From New York we will move down and for now the planning is: Philadelphia, Washington (maybe), Charleston, Savannah, New Orleans, Tampa and Naples. Not in any particular order right now. Any other places we definitely should visit? Or tips for restaurants and things to do in the named cities?
We will stay in New York in an AirBnb appartment in Brooklyn. I’m going to see if I can get rental bikes there as that wil be easier to move around with instead of by food. Although the subway is just around the corner of our apartment.
In the meantime I will be looking for things to do and see in East USA. Planning is always so much fun!
And the good news is… it is not that far in the future! (april)
